How do I make an appt?
The simplest way to make an appointment is to call us on 0203 916 0286 and speak to one of our receptionists. You can book Physiotherapy and Massage appointments online using the ‘Book Now’ button on each page of the website. You can also contact us through the contact form on the website, in person by visiting the clinic or by emailing us at help@physio-on-the-river.co.uk.
Do I need to see a doctor first?
No, you don’t need to see a doctor first unless you are intending to reclaim the cost of your treatment through your Private Health Insurance company. Most health insurance companies insist that you see your GP first and get a referral before your treatment begins. If you want to claim for your treatment you must have your policy details before commending treatment. The details we need are your policy number, the insurance company, the authorisation code, the number of treatments that have been authorised or the total allowance for treatment in monetary terms and finally your excess.
Can I claim the cost of treatment through my health insurance policy?
We would advise you to check the terms of your policy or call your insurance company first – but most policies will cover the cost of Physiotherapy treatment. Some insurance companies insist on you seeing your GP first before commencing treatment. We are recognised by all the major health insurance companies.
How do I claim for my treatment from my health insurance company?
We have an arrangement for direct billing with most health insurance companies – this means that we bill the company and you don’t have to get involved with the payment except if you have an excess on your policy. In a few exceptions where we don’t bill the company directly, we would require you to pay for your treatment at each attendance and then pass the receipts to your insurance company for reimbursement.
What are your clinic opening times?
07.00-21.00 Monday, Wednesday and Friday
08.00-21.00 Tuesdays and Thursdays
08.00-19.00 on Fridays
08.00-14.30 on Saturdays.
What should I wear for my treatment?
If you are coming for Physiotherapy we may need to you undress to your underwear for most conditions so you might like to bring a pair of shorts with you. If you don’t have a pair of shorts we do have a limited selection that we can lend you. If you are coming with a sports injury involving running it is a good idea to bring your running shoes with you. If you are attending a Pilates or yoga class then loose fitting tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt are fine – no Lycra required!
How many sessions of Physiotherapy will I need?
Physiotherapy is not an exact science but once you have had your assessment your Physiotherapist will be able to give you a rough guide to the number of treatments you will need and will discuss with you your goals and a treatment plan.
Will I always have the same therapist and can I chose a male or female?
Unless your therapist is on holiday or sick you will always keep the same one. We do have both male and female Physiotherapists to choose from.
Is it easy to park near the clinic?
Parking is easy in all the local roads except during the times when parking restrictions are in force – 10 am-12 noon on Mondays to Fridays in all roads except Elm Bank Gardens where restrictions are 9 am – 11 am. At these times there are metered spaces on the High Street, at the end of Lonsdale Road and some very limited free spaces on Station Road on the final approach to Barnes Staation (not Barnes Bridge Station).
How quickly can I get an appointment?
We can usually offer a Physiotherapy or massage appt within 24 hours.
Do you treat children?
Yes, we treat children for orthopaedic type conditions. However, we don’t treat very young children with developmental or neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy. We can see any child with a sports injury or fracture or condition of that sort. All our staff are CRB checked. We require that children under the age of 16 are accompanied by an adult for every appointment.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, you are welcome to bring someone with you.
Can I bring my baby/child with me?
If you cannot arrange childcare then you are welcome to bring your child with you. However, for your own benefit we prefer it if you can avoid it – babies and small children can be a big distraction and if you want to have a stress free appointment when the focus of our attention is very much on you then we advise against bringing your child.
What is your system of payment?
We ask that you pay for your treatment at each visit unless we are billing your insurance company directly. We accept cash, cheques and debit and credit cards. Alternatively you can also pay by bacs transfer
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment and avoid a charge. If 24 hours notice is not given then the full fee will be charged unless there are exceptional circumstances. This policy is to give us a fair chance to fill that space. We often have clients waiting for a free appointment to become available so by letting us know that you cannot make your appointment this allows us to offer it to someone who may be in urgent need.
